This report presents the findings of a comprehensive study commissioned by Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD), examining the financial and institutional barriers that shape political participation, competition and party behaviour in Jordan. It sheds light on how the high cost of politics — from running campaigns to sustaining party organisation — affects who can realistically enter politics, and how these costs influence representation, inclusivity, and democratic competition. The study explores the implications for political pluralism and suggests measures to make political participation more accessible and equitable.
