Training Opportunity for Young Sudanese Changemakers

The Sudanese Democracy Academy (SUDAC) invites you to apply for an intensive two-week residential training programme designed to empower emerging youth leaders with democratic skills, Knowledge, and networking opportunities!
About SUDAC
Active in over 20 countries, NIMD works to promote peaceful, just, and inclusive democracy worldwide. Since 2017, NIMD has been working in Ethiopia to support dialogue processes and democratic reforms.
The NIMD Ethiopia office additionally implements the Sudan Democracy Academy (SUDAC) programme. SUDAC responds to Sudan’s very complex political transition by equipping young and emerging political leaders, especially youth and women, with the skills and knowledge needed for democratic engagement, leadership, and inclusive participation. The programme runs from November 2024 to October 2026 and made possible with funding from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
The Programme
- 2-week intensive residential-based training in Ethiopia.
- Tailored Learning: A customized curriculum addressing Sudan’s unique political challenges.
- 360° Learning Method: Engage in participatory, peer-driven sessions to share knowledge and experiences.
- Build Networks: Connect with diverse youth from political parties, CSOs, and movements across Sudan and the diaspora.
- Trust & Collaboration: Foster camaraderie through social activities (including movie nights, hiking, cooking, and sport activities), practical exercises, and trust-building activities).
Who we are looking for
- Sudanese youth aged 22–35 (exceptions up to 40).
- At a minimum a High School graduate.
- Member of a Political Party, Civil Society Organization, Youth Networks, or active in a grassroots organization or movement.
- The applicant must commit to a full two-week attendance for the training (We will not accept partial participation).
- We are accepting applicants from urban/rural areas, conflict zones, and the diaspora (especially Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, and Chad).
- Women and representatives of all ethnic, religious, and regional backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.
- The applicant must be eligible to travel.
Participants will be selected through a competitive process during the inception phase.
All expenses will be covered, including:
- Accommodation
- Meals
- Transportation (to and from the training venue)
- Training materials
Upon completing the training graduates will join a regional alumni network for ongoing collaboration and advocacy.
