Project Officer, NIMD Bangladesh
The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) is looking for a Project Officer to support our EU-funded Action for a Holistic Electoral Approach for Democracy (AHEAD) project in Bangladesh.
Project Officer – Bangladesh
Full time (consultancy)
The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) works to promote peaceful, just, and inclusive democracy worldwide. We believe that democracy can only thrive when all voices are heard, and that inclusive and respectful dialogue between politicians, political parties, civil society, and citizens is crucial to achieving that goal.
We build all our democracy support programmes around that core belief, ensuring we help empower everyone – from traditionally marginalized groups to established politicians – to play their role in political life and work for the common good of their country. We do this by promoting dialogue, strengthening the capacities of political actors, and training young and established leaders in our Democracy Schools. Currently, NIMD runs programmes in around twenty countries in Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) region. For more information on what we do and where NIMD works, see www.nimd.org/where-we-work.
NIMD is headquartered in the political heart of the Netherlands, The Hague. The position shall be based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Position
NIMD is implementing the Action for a Holistic Electoral Approach for Democracy (AHEAD) – Bangladesh project in partnership with the European Partnership for Democracy (EPD) and JAAGO Foundation Trust. The action aligns with the European Union’s global objectives to advance democracy, human rights, and good governance. It supports inclusive and transparent elections, strengthens civil society participation, promotes political pluralism and accountability, and addresses persistent challenges such as marginalization and limited access to reliable information. Within this framework, AHEAD Bangladesh aims to support civil society and political actors before, during, and after the electoral period.
NIMD leads the component focused on supporting political parties to promote inclusive, issue-based, and participatory political processes. NIMD currently seeks a Project Officer to support implementation of the political party pillar of the project.
The Project Officer will support the implementation of the AHEAD project by assisting in planning, coordination, monitoring, documentation, and reporting of activities related to electoral preparedness, political party engagement, civic and voter awareness, youth and women’s political participation, and democratic dialogue.
The role contributes to ensuring that project activities are implemented in line with the AHEAD Description of Action (DoA), approved work plans, donor requirements, and NIMD’s core principles of inclusive, peaceful, and democratic political processes.
