The Participation of Women in Politics in Venezuela
Around the world, most parliaments remain dominated by men, with women systematically underrepresented in spaces of power due to social obstacles and structural factors.
In Venezuelan elections in 2015, just 22% of elected officials were women – below the average of 32% seen elsewhere in the region of Latin America.
This report aims to document both the obstacles to power and show the progress and achievements made by women in politics in Venezuela, so we can examine how to better strengthen the capacities of Venezuelan women in politics.
