NIMD Mozambique’s online app: Txeka-la or ‘Check it out’ – 2015

NIMD Mozambique helped to develop a Portuguese language, web-based application that empowers ordinary citizens to observe and report on the 2014 Presidential Election through the use of their mobile phone.

The platform is called Txeka-la, which is Mozambican slang for “check it out”, and is powered by technology that was created in Kenya by Ushahidi following the violence that broke out after the 2007 election. With this platform, citizens will be able to report, in real-time, election events across the country.
