NIMD works to promote peaceful, just, and inclusive democracy worldwide. To that end, we work with the entire political sector in a country, from aspiring politicians to political leaders, and from the national to the local level. Together with our network, we promote dialogue, we strengthen the capacities of political actors, and we train young and established leaders in our Democracy Schools. Currently, NIMD runs programmes in around twenty countries in Africa, Latin America, Southeast Asia, and the MENA region. To support the team in Nairobi, NIMD Kenya is seeking a dynamic and motivated Programme Intern to support its democracy and governance programs between 6-12 Months.
The intern will assist in planning, implementing, and monitoring NIMD’s activities to strengthen political parties and promote inclusive governance. This role offers an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in programme management, policy analysis, and the democracy and governance sector.
Key Responsibilities
The intern will report to the Programme Officer, their tasks may include:
Programme Activities
- Assist in the planning, coordinating, and executing programme activities related to democracy, governance, and multiparty systems in Kenya.
- Support in drafting concept notes, reports, and project documents.
- Help organize workshops, training sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E):
- Assist in tracking programme progress and outcomes against set objectives.
- Help in gathering data, conducting analysis, and preparing M&E reports.
Administrative Support:
- Provide logistical and administrative assistance for programme activities, including event coordination and documentation.
- Assist in maintaining programme files, databases, and records.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field (current students in their final year of study may also be considered).
- Strong interest in democracy, governance, political party systems, and international development.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
