De leden blijven zich inzetten voor de doelstelling om politieke partijen te versterken en zullen waar mogelijk blijven samenwerken.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Op 12 oktober 2016 werd in Den Haag het Global Partnership for Multiparty Democracy (GPMD) opgericht. Het GPMD is een uniek 'Noord-Zuid' netwerk dat 18 organisaties van over de hele wereld samenbrengt die politieke partijen in zich ontwikkelende democratie\u00ebn ondersteunen. Alle partners werken vanuit een meerpartijenperspectief, wat betekent dat ze werken met het volledige politieke partijenlandschap in een land. <span class=\"text_exposed_show\">Hun steun is gericht op het bevorderen van een politieke cultuur van samenwerking, consensus en dialoog. <\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p>STEUN AAN POLITIEKE PARTIJEN IS BELANGRIJK<br \/>\nPolitieke partijen vormen de kern van de representatieve democratie. Ze vervullen een unieke rol door de staat en de samenleving met elkaar te verbinden via hun deelname aan parlementen en regeringen. Helaas hebben politieke partijen moeite om hun democratische rol te vervullen. Ze zijn vaak slecht georganiseerd en niet stevig geworteld in de samenleving.<br \/>\nDe GPMD gelooft dat wanneer politieke partijen de vaardigheden hebben om beleidsprogramma's te ontwikkelen en wanneer ze elkaar vertrouwen en bereid zijn om samen te werken voor het algemeen belang, dit zal leiden tot beter functionerende democratie\u00ebn en uiteindelijk tot beter bestuur en duurzame ontwikkeling.<\/p>\n<p>Door hun krachten te bundelen willen de GPMD-partners de aandacht van de internationale donorgemeenschap vestigen op de rol van politieke partijen in democratiseringsprocessen. Ze worden vaak vergeten door beleidsmakers en donoren. En als ze wel aan politieke partijen denken, ligt de focus vooral op verkiezingen. Hoewel vrije en eerlijke verkiezingen fundamenteel zijn voor een democratie, zijn verkiezingen alleen niet voldoende om de consolidatie van een democratie te garanderen.
