Las mujeres representan casi la mitad de la poblaci\u00f3n mundial. Sin embargo, a 1 de enero de 2025, s\u00f3lo ocupaban el 27,2% de los esca\u00f1os parlamentarios en todo el mundo, menos de uno de cada cuatro puestos en los gabinetes y 106 pa\u00edses nunca hab\u00edan tenido una mujer al frente de un Estado o gobierno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No se trata de una brecha. Es un d\u00e9ficit democr\u00e1tico.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La democracia inclusiva no puede servir a toda la sociedad si la mitad de ella no est\u00e1 presente en las salas donde se toman las decisiones. En el NIMD, apoyar la participaci\u00f3n plena e igualitaria de las mujeres en la vida pol\u00edtica es fundamental para nuestro trabajo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

En este D\u00eda Internacional de la Mujer, destacamos a las mujeres que trabajan en la pol\u00edtica y la paz, y lo que cambia cuando las mujeres lideran. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Acuerdos de paz m\u00e1s largos <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cuando las mujeres participan de forma significativa en las negociaciones de paz, es m\u00e1s 35% probable que los acuerdos duren al menos 15 a\u00f1os. Los procesos inclusivos producen resultados m\u00e1s duraderos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

2. La gobernanza se hace m\u00e1s responsable<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Una mayor representaci\u00f3n de las mujeres en las instituciones pol\u00edticas est\u00e1 sistem\u00e1ticamente vinculada a una mayor transparencia y una mejor administraci\u00f3n de los recursos p\u00fablicos, en todas las regiones y sistemas pol\u00edticos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. M\u00e1s personas tienen voz en la mesa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Es m\u00e1s probable que las mujeres l\u00edderes aboguen por la inclusi\u00f3n de otros grupos infrarrepresentados. Cuando el espacio pol\u00edtico se abre para las mujeres, tiende a abrirse m\u00e1s, para todos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Las pol\u00edticas p\u00fablicas reflejan m\u00e1s necesidades<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cuando las mujeres tienen poder de decisi\u00f3n, la inversi\u00f3n en salud, educaci\u00f3n y protecci\u00f3n social tiende a seguirlas. La pol\u00edtica responde mejor a toda la poblaci\u00f3n a la que sirve.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5. La pr\u00f3xima generaci\u00f3n cree que es posible<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Cuando las j\u00f3venes y las ni\u00f1as ven a mujeres en puestos de liderazgo pol\u00edtico, es m\u00e1s probable que ellas mismas participen en la vida democr\u00e1tica. La representaci\u00f3n no solo da forma a la pol\u00edtica de hoy, sino tambi\u00e9n a los dem\u00f3cratas de ma\u00f1ana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
