En NIMD tuvimos el placer de hablar con Karin Boven, hasta el verano pasado Embajadora de los Pa\u00edses Bajos en Uganda. Durante su mandato como Embajadora en Uganda, ella y su equipo ganaron el Brede Mensenrchten Overleg<\/a> (BMO) Premio de Derechos Humanos para Embajadas<\/a>. El BMO Mensenrechtenprijs se concede cada dos a\u00f1os por las organizaciones humanitarias neerlandesas a la embajada que m\u00e1s contribuye a la protecci\u00f3n de las mujeres. Este a\u00f1o, Karin y su equipo han sido galardonados por su compromiso con la defensa de los derechos humanos en Oeganda.<\/p>\n

En nuestra entrevista, Karin nos habla de su trayectoria personal, de c\u00f3mo ha llegado a este puesto, de lo que ha aprendido y de las motivaciones que ella y su equipo han desarrollado para ayudar a los dem\u00e1s, centr\u00e1ndose en las peque\u00f1as y medianas empresas de Oeganda. Nos unimos a los logros y \u00e9xitos de nuestro equipo y nos convertimos en la embajada ganadora.<\/p>\n

La primera pregunta que quiero hacerle es: \u00bfqu\u00e9 le hace embajador?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Me dedico a la gesti\u00f3n de proyectos y derechos humanos, en particular los derechos de las mujeres y la colaboraci\u00f3n con organizaciones de mujeres. Mi principal preocupaci\u00f3n es, ante todo, la protecci\u00f3n de los derechos humanos, y me gustar\u00eda, entre otras cosas, hacer un balance de la situaci\u00f3n de las personas en Oeganda. Dat klinkt misschien groots en meeslepend, maar ik ben me ervan bewust dat we kleine stapjes maken. Elke stap is echter een stap. Se trata de esta bendici\u00f3n mensgerichte que mi energ\u00eda geeft, motiveert y en staat stelt om mensen te ontmoeten en te steunen.<\/p>\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo se ha incorporado este mensaje a su trabajo? \u00bfEsto tambi\u00e9n es cierto?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Nee, nee, ik heb een heel aparte carri\u00e8re achter de rug. Ik ben cultureel antropoloog. Ik heb promotieonderzoek gedaan onder inheemse volkeren in het Amazonegebied. Via allerlei omwegen kwam ik in Paramaribo terecht en heb ik ook wat opdrachten uitgevoerd voor de Nederlandse ambassade daar. Su trabajo se centr\u00f3, entre otras cosas, en el desarrollo del pa\u00eds, la igualdad entre hombres y mujeres y la igualdad de g\u00e9nero. Me traslad\u00e9 a los Pa\u00edses Bajos y comenc\u00e9 a trabajar para el Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores tras mi experiencia como antrop\u00f3loga en el campo.<\/p>\n

\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 ocupas ahora el puesto de embajador para ayudar a las mujeres de Oeganda?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Como embajador, ocupas un puesto de responsabilidad que te permite participar en diferentes partidos. Oeganda mantiene una larga y cordial relaci\u00f3n con los Pa\u00edses Bajos. Adem\u00e1s, Oeganda tambi\u00e9n nos pide que seamos cr\u00edticos y que nos pongamos de acuerdo sobre las cuestiones que nos preocupan. Dat kan omdat we zo'n lange band hebben en een goede bilaterale relatie.<\/p>\n

Por lo tanto, estoy interesado en la vida de las personas. Me desplazo regularmente por el pa\u00eds para participar en nuestros diversos proyectos. Me desplazo a los pueblos para ver c\u00f3mo se desarrolla el proyecto y qu\u00e9 piensan los ciudadanos, o si su vida mejora gracias al proyecto. Het is heel belangrijk om goed te luisteren.<\/p>\n

Ik nodig mensen ook uit op de residentie of ambassade om in een veilige omgeving gesprekken te voeren, vooral mensenrechtenverdedigers die onder druk staan.<\/p>\n

\u00bfExiste un momento espec\u00edfico de la colaboraci\u00f3n en el que te sientas m\u00e1s c\u00f3modo?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Hace un par de semanas organizamos una recepci\u00f3n con motivo del D\u00eda Internacional de la Homosexualidad, Lesbofobia, Transfobia e Intersexualidad (IDAHOBIT, tambi\u00e9n conocido como IDAHOT), junto con Dinamarca y Suecia. Fue un momento muy importante para que la comunidad de Oeganda se uniera para compartir experiencias y reflexiones, sobre todo despu\u00e9s de la invasi\u00f3n de la ley antihomicidios en Oeganda el a\u00f1o pasado.<\/p>\n

Con Dinamarca y Suecia organizamos cada a\u00f1o la recepci\u00f3n de IDAHOBIT, y me parece muy bonito y positivo que este a\u00f1o hayamos organizado la recepci\u00f3n. Cuando me fui a Holanda en enero, me encontr\u00e9 en bol.com con las p\u00e1ginas de regalo que hab\u00eda pedido en mi cuenta. Die hebben we opgehangen in de tuin en in de tenten waar we samenkwamen. Me interesaban los distintos grupos que form\u00e1bamos, desde las asociaciones locales hasta las internacionales, pero tambi\u00e9n ten\u00edamos muchos hijos LGBTQ+.<\/p>\n

Estas mujeres tambi\u00e9n viv\u00edan en la ciudad de Kampala y hablaban ingl\u00e9s. No fueron nunca recibidos por diplom\u00e1ticos. Al principio, se les hizo la boca agua con la noticia de que no eran belgas, pero luego se les dio la bienvenida y, por \u00faltimo, se les invit\u00f3 a participar en las actividades de nuestra lista de reproducci\u00f3n de IDAHOBIT 2024.<\/p>\n

Ha sido un evento estupendo en el que no s\u00f3lo hemos debatido, sino que tambi\u00e9n hemos disfrutado de lo bello que es estar en un entorno tan agradable y \u00fanico, lleno de vida y alegr\u00eda. Ik ben er trots op dat ik alle aanwezigen een veilige plek kon bieden in de residentie om zichzelf te zijn en gesprekken te voeren.<\/p>\n

\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 cree que la embajada de jullie ha sido seleccionada para el premio BMO Mensenrechten?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ik denk dat we als team samen heel veel hebben gedaan de afgelopen jaren, we hebben niet stilgezeten. Wij hadden echt elke dag mensen over de vloer waar we mee in gesprek gingen, zowel met critiek,als met slachtoffers of andere stakeholder. Als team hebben we echt geluisterd en de tijd genomen om het menselijke verhaal naar voren te laten komen en daar aandacht voor gevraagd. Ook bij de overheid.<\/p>\n

Ik weet niet of dit ervoor heeft gezorgd dat mensen onze naam hebben laten vallen, maar ik vind het wel mooi. Niet zozeer dat wij genoemd zijn, maar dat de extra uren die wij als team hebben ingezet niet onopgemerkt voorbij zijn gegaan. Daar ben ik heel trots op.<\/p>\n

El centro comercial de Oeganda sigue creciendo. Conocemos esta tendencia en todo el mundo, \u00bfpuede explic\u00e1rnosla? <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ik lasorige week dat de helft van de jongeren in Amsterdam anti-homo sentimenten heeft. Dat vond ik schokkend. Es importante que te enteres de lo que ocurre en tu pa\u00eds. We moeten zelf ook alert blijven en kritisch op onszelfen niet met opgeheven vinger in andere landen vertellen hoe geweldig wij bezig zijn met mensenrechten. Es interesante que en Oeganda financiering nos hayamos esforzado por ayudar a las personas que viven en el \u00e1mbito de los derechos de las personas o del medio ambiente maatschappelijke.<\/p>\n

\u00bfC\u00f3mo se puede trabajar en un entorno que no es muy positivo? <\/strong><\/h2>\n

Este conocimiento de las organizaciones de protecci\u00f3n de las personas nos motiva a m\u00ed y a mi equipo. Tambi\u00e9n nos ayudan las relaciones con las personas de aqu\u00ed y las buenas relaciones que mantenemos, por ejemplo, con el exceso de calor. En la embajada, algunos m\u00e9dicos egandeses trabajan para la embajada de los Pa\u00edses Bajos, lo que me motiva mucho. Al principio tuvimos una recepci\u00f3n para ver que ten\u00edamos una recepcionista que llevaba 30 a\u00f1os trabajando para la Embajada de los Pa\u00edses Bajos.
