El pueblo ucraniano ha expresado alto y claro sus ambiciones democr\u00e1ticas. Desde su independencia de Rusia en 1991, los ucranianos se han echado a la calle en dos ocasiones para exigir el fin de la corrupci\u00f3n, las elecciones ama\u00f1adas y la injerencia extranjera.<\/p>\n

La Revoluci\u00f3n de Maidan de 2013 fue una clara se\u00f1al de que la mayor\u00eda de los ucranianos ve\u00edan un futuro arraigado en los valores de la tolerancia, la libertad y la democracia, y a pesar de los inevitables desaf\u00edos para hacer realidad esas ambiciones, el pa\u00eds estaba en el camino hacia un futuro mejor.<\/p>\n

Por eso, cuando Rusia lanz\u00f3 un ataque no provocado contra Ucrania, no fue s\u00f3lo un ataque contra un pa\u00eds soberano, sino un ataque contra la propia democracia.<\/p>\n

NIMD trabaj\u00f3 en Ucrania de 2016 a 2020 junto a nuestro socio, el Centro de Europa Oriental para la Democracia Multipartidista<\/a>. A trav\u00e9s de nuestro Escuelas democr\u00e1ticas<\/a>Estamos orgullosos de haber compartido el entusiasmo de los j\u00f3venes que participaron en los cursos, todos ellos decididos a utilizar sus nuevos conocimientos para trabajar por el bien com\u00fan de su pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

Ahora, ese futuro libre y democr\u00e1tico est\u00e1 en peligro, y las esperanzas y los sue\u00f1os de la pr\u00f3xima generaci\u00f3n est\u00e1n en la balanza.<\/p>\n

Hoy nos solidarizamos con el pueblo de Ucrania. Todos debemos redoblar nuestro compromiso de apoyo a los dem\u00f3cratas y a los sistemas democr\u00e1ticos inclusivos en todo el mundo, porque solo trabajando juntos con objetivos compartidos podremos hacer frente a las ambiciones autocr\u00e1ticas que amenazan la paz y la seguridad de todos.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
