NIMD lamenta profundamente el fallecimiento de Daniel Loya, Director Ejecutivo del Centro para la Democracia de Tanzania (TCD).\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

TCD es uno de los socios m\u00e1s antiguos de NIMD. Nuestro programa all\u00ed abarc\u00f3 desde 2006 hasta 2012. Desde entonces, nos complace poder seguir trabajando con la organizaci\u00f3n, y con Loya como su director, a trav\u00e9s de la Asociaci\u00f3n Global para la Democracia Multipartidista.<\/em><\/p>\n

A lo largo de los a\u00f1os, muchos de nosotros en el NIMD hemos creado lazos de amistad y confianza con Loya. Le echaremos mucho de menos en nuestra organizaci\u00f3n.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

A continuaci\u00f3n, compartimos con ustedes unas palabras de Shaun Mackay, Asesor Externo de NIMD para el Di\u00e1logo. Shaun trabaj\u00f3 estrechamente con Loya, desde el principio del trabajo de NIMD en \u00c1frica .\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

El nombre de Daniel Loya, o simplemente \"Loya\", como le llamaban cari\u00f1osamente sus colegas y amigos del NIMD y del TCD, es sin\u00f3nimo de TCD. Estuvo all\u00ed desde su g\u00e9nesis en Tanzania. Sucedi\u00f3 al primer Coordinador Nacional, el Profesor A. Liviga, y sirvi\u00f3 fielmente al TCD hasta su triste fallecimiento esta semana.<\/p>\n

Loya fue un colega durante todos estos a\u00f1os y, por consiguiente, nos hicimos amigos; llegu\u00e9 a apreciar su singular sentido del humor (que no compart\u00eda f\u00e1cilmente hasta que lleg\u00f3 a confiar en ti) y su dedicaci\u00f3n a la causa del di\u00e1logo entre partidos como veh\u00edculo para fortalecer y apuntalar lo que entonces era la incipiente democracia de su pa\u00eds. Era un guerrero humilde y modesto de la democracia en su pa\u00eds, que prefer\u00eda dejar el protagonismo a los partidos pol\u00edticos.<\/p>\n

Las cosas no siempre fueron f\u00e1ciles para \u00e9l y para el TCD, pero persever\u00f3 ante los numerosos retos y consigui\u00f3 mantener viva la organizaci\u00f3n a pesar de todo. Uno de los momentos culminantes del servicio de Loya al TCD, y a las partes a las que serv\u00eda, fue cuando el Gobierno tanzano (como resultado de la presi\u00f3n ejercida por el TCD) empez\u00f3 a proporcionar financiaci\u00f3n para las operaciones y actividades de la organizaci\u00f3n, algo que muchos otros socios del NIMD estaban, en aquel momento, luchando por conseguir. Recuerdo c\u00f3mo admir\u00e1bamos a TCD por este impresionante logro.<\/p>\n

Y siempre me impresion\u00f3 lo ampliamente relacionado y respetado que era Loya por pol\u00edticos de todo el espectro pol\u00edtico del pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n

Es justo observar que el TCD, bajo la direcci\u00f3n de Loya, desempe\u00f1\u00f3 un papel significativo en la vida pol\u00edtica de Tanzania durante gran parte de la existencia de la organizaci\u00f3n. Daniel Loya, se mire como se mire, ha dejado una huella indeleble en las personas y organizaciones para las que trabaj\u00f3 y con las que colabor\u00f3, incluidos sus colegas y amigos del NIMD. Pero, sobre todo, el TCD y sus partidos miembros han perdido a un viejo amigo y defensor.<\/p>\n
