El Consejo de Supervisi\u00f3n de NIMD se complace en anunciar el nombramiento de Thijs Berman<\/a> como nuevo Director Ejecutivo de la organizaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n

Berman aporta al NIMD m\u00e1s de 30 a\u00f1os de experiencia en medios de comunicaci\u00f3n, pol\u00edtica y desarrollo. Recientemente ha sido asesor principal del representante de la OSCE para la libertad de los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n en Viena. Como antiguo eurodiputado, tambi\u00e9n form\u00f3 parte de varias comisiones, entre ellas la Comisi\u00f3n de Desarrollo y la Subcomisi\u00f3n de Derechos Humanos.<\/p>\n

Berman afirma sentirse honrado de asumir el cargo de Director Ejecutivo del NIMD:<\/p>\n

\"Me comprometo a hacer una contribuci\u00f3n significativa a la paz y la estabilidad fomentando el di\u00e1logo y la pol\u00edtica inclusiva. Creo firmemente en las sociedades pluriformes y en la b\u00fasqueda de soluciones consensuadas para las cuestiones conflictivas.\"<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Berman comenz\u00f3 su carrera como periodista, trabajando como corresponsal de radio en Par\u00eds y Mosc\u00fa, entre otros pa\u00edses. Posteriormente fue diputado al Parlamento Europeo por el Partido Laborista holand\u00e9s, adem\u00e1s de asumir el cargo de Presidente de la delegaci\u00f3n socialdem\u00f3crata holandesa en Bruselas. Berman tambi\u00e9n ha dirigido varias misiones europeas de observaci\u00f3n electoral en Afganist\u00e1n, Etiop\u00eda y Senegal, y ha trabajado como jefe de equipo de un programa europeo de apoyo electoral en la Rep\u00fablica Centroafricana.<\/p>\n
