Egbert Pos is policy officer Africa at NIMD since September 2008. At NIMD Egbert is responsible for the programmes in Zimbabwe and Malawi.
Previously, Egbert worked for the Sub-Saharan Africa Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As policy officer he covered Burundi as well as peace and security issues and was involved with the Dutch contribution to the development of the African Union’s African Peace and Security Architecture.
Egbert has a Master’s degree in Political Science and Public Administration from the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He wrote his final thesis on the role of business in South Africa’s transition to democracy. During his studies he worked for SAVUSA (South Africa-Vrije Universiteit-Strategic Alliances). An initiative that aims to stimulate and intensify academic cooperation between the Vrije Universiteit and South African Universities.
