NIMD’s partner in Ghana, the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA), has received an award for its work.

IEA Ghana has been granted a Millennium Excellence Award for its role in fostering good governance and multiparty democracy in Ghana and West Africa. IEA Executive Director Jean Mensa received the award on behalf of the Institute at a ceremony held at the Accra International Conference Centre on December 4.

At the ceremony, 30 Ghanaian institutions and individuals were recognized, including the IEA and the Institute for Democratic Governance (IDEG), each winning an award in the Democratic Development category. The awards are presented every five years.

The prestigious Gold Coast Award was conferred on the Chairman of Ghana’s Electoral Commission, Dr Kwadwo Afari-Djan. He was rewarded for having presided over three successful elections in Ghana.
